The magnetic field of the McFLOW changes the crystal structure of the minerals in the water.

The calcium and magnesium in your tap water can no longer bond with each other and adhere to the tiles, fixtures, and pipes in your bathroom due to the magnetic field.

Is my water pipe suitable for the McFLOW?

Iron and stainless steel are not suitable. Copper, brass, and all plastics are.

In the Netherlands, water pipes in homes are generally not made of iron or steel. Nowadays, plastic pipes are mainly used, such as:

  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
  • PE (polyethylene)
  • PEX (cross-linked polyethylene)

In older homes (pre-1970s), you might still encounter cast iron or steel water pipes, but these have often been replaced over the years due to problems such as rust, leaks, and blockages. Copper pipes were also widely used, especially in the 20th century, but these are also increasingly being replaced by plastic.

How effective exactly is the McFLOW water softener?

The effectiveness of the McFLOW can vary depending on several factors, such as water hardness, mineral composition, water pressure, and specific installation conditions. Generally, we find that the McFLOW and MCFLOW PRO achieve a significant reduction in limescale for most users. Some users experience excellent results, with a reduction of up to 97%, while others see more modest results, around 30-40%.

What do I choose, the McFLOW or McFLOW PRO?

The McFLOW and the McFLOW Pro are both magnetic water treatment systems that reduce limescale. The main difference lies in the capacity and strength of the magnets. The McFLOW Pro is twice as large and twice as powerful as the McFLOW.

McFLOW: This model is suitable for most households and is ideal for average water consumption. Up to 80% less limescale.

McFLOW Pro: This model is more powerful (double size) and has a higher capacity. It's suitable for households with higher water consumption, larger pipes, or more complex plumbing systems. Think of large families, homes with multiple bathrooms, or businesses. Up to 95% less limescale.

In most cases, one McFLOW is sufficient. However, you could achieve additional profit with two McFLOWs or one McFLOW Pro.

Note: For optimal results, we recommend installing a second McFLOW after the boiler. Electromagnetic radiation in boilers can reduce the effectiveness of magnetic water treatment.

Is the McFLOW a 100% solution against limescale?

The McFLOW is very effective at reducing limescale buildup because it prevents limescale from adhering. The limescale, however, remains in your water. This offers many pleasant benefits.

It is not a replacement for more expensive, complex systems that may achieve greater limescale reduction.

Don't rely on McFLOW products to supply soft water to more sensitive appliances (e.g., espresso machines). Pressure in water pipes, heat, and steam shorten the magnetic properties of water. Magnetized water has a limited lifespan, which can last up to several days.

Can I install the McFLOW myself or do I need a plumber?

The McFLOW is easy to install and requires no special tools or expertise. Anyone can do it themselves. Clear instructions are included. Suitable for all pipes in the home (10 mm to 50 mm).

What happens to the minerals in the water?

The minerals remain in the water, but their structure changes. As a result, they can no longer adhere and form limescale. This is important for people concerned about the essential minerals in their drinking water.

What if I'm not satisfied with the McFLOW?

Can the McFLOW also remove existing limescale?

Yes, the McFLOW helps break down existing limescale. The altered structure of the minerals makes them less likely to adhere, and the existing limescale will gradually dissolve. This means you'll experience less limescale over time and cleaning will become easier.

Can the McFLOW withstand heat and cold?

Cold and heat are no problem. Because we use ferrite magnets, unlike neodymium magnets, you won't experience performance degradation at high temperatures.

Above 170 degrees Celsius the plastic covering will start to melt.
